Swan Diva technology

Tweeter

All Swans Diva main speakers use an A-grade, hand-selected, high performance 28mm Danish style soft dome tweeter. This device has stood the test of time, and to our knowledge, is superior to anything in the Diva's class. Swan starts with a German silk dome, and adds a Neodymium motor and ferrofluid voice coil cooling. The end result is an exclusive marriage of technology and engineering that gives Swan Diva high frequencies the neutral, open, spacious, and relaxed sound they've become famous for. The 28mm Diva dome tweeter also has very high power handling, very wide dynamic range, and excellent dispersion, features rarely found in-class in Internet-direct distribution.

Midrange / Midbass

For the new Swan Diva series The Audio Insider specified a new cone technology - we requested the finest damped hard paper cone material and the most linear dispersion we could. Each Diva model in the X.2 series therefore features a unique, exclusive new cone technology coupled to Diva's trademark low-distortion motors. We've combined the best of a hard, articulate-sounding cone with a curvilinear profile - like the Kevlar/cellulose hybrid found in the classic Diva 6.1 - with critical damping. The end result is yet another excellent balance of detail, bandwidth, and low cone breakup. When combined with Swan's special motors and a linear suspension, this new midrange driver has very predictable, low-distortion behavior across a very wide range of frequencies.

Woofers

Having succeeded with the new Diva midrange driver technology, we duplicated the cone technology and motor design in larger sizes for the new Diva 5.2 and Diva 6.2's woofers. Once again our distinctive motor technology - lower in distortion than nearly anything in this class - forms the heart of these excellent low frequency drivers. Combined with long throw, linear suspensions, and the rigid new Diva cone material and profile, the new Diva series' bass response is better than ever. Larger cabinets allow even deeper bass extension.

Crossover networks

All Diva models, whether the new X.2 series or original classic X.1 series, rely on in-house crossover assemblies: Swan is highly vertically integrated and makes most components from proprietary designs, including drivers and crossover components, including their excellent linear-wound, heavy-gage air core inductors. High-grade polypropylene capacitors round out these circuits, and all designs are formulated and tuned in the largest test chamber in the East.

Cabinets

No great speaker is complete without a complimenting enclosure and Swans Diva is no different. Each bentwood Diva cabinet is comprised of individual hand-laid strakes applied to a series of CNC-milled internal bulkheads. The final enclosure is finished in lacquer. Glossy piano black endcaps complete the Diva's cabinets and give speakers a rich, opulent, furniture grade look and feel. A Swan Diva is an audio investment that not only lasts a very long time, but holds its value and always returns a sense of owner pride.

Piano like finish on top oof both speakers is scratched. The speakers were very well packaged so I believe they were shipped from factory with scratches...none of the Swans I received nine years ago had scratches...pretty disappointing! Lets start off with customer service. Jon Lane knows his stuff- any question or problems he will be glad to help you out and make sure it gets done. I would like to say the Diva 6.2 at this price is untouchable by any speaker out there in this and sub - $4000 dollar range. Sound-stage is huge, mids are clean, bass is tight and highs crystal clear. My ears have a hard time believing these are soft domes and not aluminum. I listen to all sorts of music: Mindi Abair on sax, Hendrix playing machine gun,Clapton and Robert Johnson, and my favorite Tom Waits with home made instruments and unusual sounds. Get ready to sit back and enjoy your music. No fatiguing rifle shot highs like the def tech bp10b's they have replaced.
I would like to rate this between two points of reference, one being the worst speaker I have ever heard- Boston VR3 sounded like it was wrapped in shrink wrap. Price was very similar to the 6.2 but way off. Infact I had to listen to this at 3 different stores because I thought they were broken; they were not. This is my personal preference. Some of you may really like the Boston VR3 and there's a good chance the ones that do are tone deaf. All kidding aside I use Boston receiver and love it; they make some great products. Number 2 is the best speaker I have ever listened to - KEF REF 207, at $16,000 for the pair. It was a divorce waiting to happen but I then came to my senses. These speakers were made by the gods, for a lack of a better word. And at $16,000 they had better be. We are in Wilson audio territory here. The Boston VR3 would be a 1, the KEF REF 207 a 10. I can truly say with out pulling any punches the Diva 6.2 is a solid 7 because if you were trying for 8 or 9, we are now talking $5,000 to $10,000 and they are out there. Some Sonus Fabers, McIntosh but if I had an extra $8,000 for speakers lying around I wouldn't have the drive to search the Internet. I would go out and get rapped at my local high end shop.
I also enjoy head phones. I own the Grado 325i. Great set of cans. One of the professional reviewers said someone would have to go out and pay in excess of $3,000 for towers to equal the sounds of these head phones I can truly say that reviewer never had the chance of auditioning $1,299 pair of Swan Diva 6.2s. I am sure I will have these for many years to come or until Swan develops and affordable KEF REF 207 killer, only time will tell. I think everyone should check out the Swan line. These are great sounding, awesome looking, and well built speakers you will enjoy for many years.
