The D1.1se for 2010 is Swan's finest minimonitor and uses their most finest 5.75" midbass driver and 1.1" dome tweeter. Swan's manufacturing arm builds hundreds of thousands of drivers a year but as with those in the D2.1se, the drivers in this model are their most regarded.
The D1.1se is both a perfect match for a multichannel system using the D2.1se, but is also well-suited as a powerful main loudspeaker for the smaller audiophile or home theater system.
It takes top-grade components to do what the D1.1se does which is to sound dynamic and musical in a way few speakers of its compact size can. The tweeter includes a German silk dome, ferrofluid cooling, decompression chamber, and FEA-designed motor and suspension. The midwoofer is a stand-out Swan performer - it's found in much more expensive state of the art monitor loudspeakers - and uses a number of proven, effective technologies:
- Hybrid Neodymium/ferrite motor for audibly lower distortion than conventional designs
- Oversized voice coil for linear drive and high temperature tolerance
- Ventilated chassis and motor structure for cool, linear operation at high level
- Critically damped polymer cone for low self noise
- Synthetic butyl rubber surround for long life and linear travel
- Linear suspension for low mechanical distortion
- Special heavy cast basket for low resonance
Given its compact size and conservatively-rated low frequency cutoff, the D1.1se has surprising bass. The midbass has punch, drive, and body. Mids are vivid yet effortless, and as with the larger D2.1se, users report a great overload threshold and excellent grace under pressure when vocalists and lead instrumentation get loud. This model's highs are nuanced, detailed, and dynamic.
The 1.1" / 28mm dome tweeter in the D1.1se is Swan's best and matches the D series overall.

When driven with good equipment and recordings, the D1.1se be used alone of as the perfect compliment for the Swan D2.1se in multchannel ystems. A pair used as side and another pair used as rear effects speakers make for an extraordinary, all-Swan D series experience. Used as main stereo speakers with a subwoofer, the D1.1se also performs remarkably in smaller systems or systems without the space for the larger D2.1se.
